Five Tricks for Putting Sheets on a Lofted Bed

Hassling with a fitted sheet is a rite of passage for college students when first arriving on campus. The extra height of the loft and the hard-to-reach corners of the mattress make the task even more challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. Check out these quick tricks to tackle sheet-fitting in a snap!

1. Reach New Heights – One of the most difficult aspects of making a loft bed is finding a way to reach each corner of the mattress. Grab a step stool or short ladder to extend your range.

2. Fasten Them Down – When you finally secure your sheets in place, the last thing you want is for them to pop off and ruin your hard work. Invest in sheet straps to keep your bedding from moving, sliding, and snapping.

3. Flip Them Inside Out – If you find fixing sheets the traditional way takes too much time, start by turning them inside out to speed up the process. Just flip the fitted sheet, align the corners, and roll it over the mattress!

4. Create Distance – If possible, create a small gap between the wall of your room and the edge of your loft bed. Although it may leave less floor space, this gap will allow you to reach the far sides of your mattress without crawling over the bed.

5. Use a Mattress Lifter – A mattress lifter is a small, wedge-like tool that slides between your mattress and bed frame to do the heavy lifting. It easily allows you to fix your sheets without the need to carry the weight of the mattress.
